Role Overview:

Crisis Cognition is searching for a visionary Head of Hardware & Software Development to lead our product team in bringing life-saving technology from concept to reality. As our technical leader, you’ll steer both hardware and software development, building a high-performing team committed to creating products that transform lives on the ground. Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End Product Development:

    Drive the entire product lifecycle, translating concepts into resilient, field-ready hardware and software solutions tailored for humanitarian needs.

  • Team Leadership & Collaboration:

    Build and lead a top-tier engineering team, working closely with designers, data scientists, and project managers to ensure all product components integrate seamlessly.

  • Hardware & Software Innovation

    Oversee development of hardware and software solutions built for rugged environments, ensuring reliability, simplicity, and ease of deployment.

  • Rigorous Testing & Iteration:

    Guide prototypes through rigorous field testing, gather real-world feedback, and iterate rapidly to ensure products perform under challenging conditions.

  • Compliance & Market Readiness:

    Ensure all products meet safety, regulatory, and quality standards for market deployment, preparing for large-scale production and rapid implementation.

  • Mission-Driven Stakeholder Engagement:

    Collaborate with NGOs, government agencies, and other partners to align our solutions with real-world needs, ensuring our technology serves those who need it most.

  • Resource Management:

    Oversee budgeting and resource allocation to efficiently bring concepts to life without compromising on quality or impact

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational Background:

    Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Experience:

    7+ years of hardware and software development experience with a proven track record of bringing products to market, ideally in IoT, rugged tech, or similar.

  • Lifecycle Management:

    Strong experience managing the entire product lifecycle, with a focus on mission-critical, high-stakes applications.

  • Problem Solving & Adaptability:

    Ability to think on your feet, with a knack for creating solutions that are durable, efficient, and practical in complex field conditions.
